Modern Trends in Technology

When I came out of my technical Engineering course I never ever tried to sneak into a company. Reason being, I was technically sharp. I was always hungry for technology. And I was as hungry as a hungry shark. Ever since I was a child I was keen in peeking into the insides of the latest technical gadgets.
If I repaired a few gadgets with my limited technical supply I ruined a many with my limited dose of technology. However, I fixed their problems later with my technical brains after getting a small description about the technology used in them. As a technical geek, the first gadget that I tried to repair was a small alarm clock. And when I say repair, I literally mean removing all the gears and replacing them again. It took me two complete days to render the clock completely useless after cutting a small important copper coil inside it. And I never felt sorry for that. Because I got a chance to peek into the technology as used in small alarm clock. And today I know how the 555 timer technology is used for designing an alarm clock. And this is a very simple technology which many Engineers are not acquainted with even after graduating out of their technical courses.
The topper of my class had once attended a campus interview. The interviewer asked this technical Electric Engineer a small basic technical question, "Which of the following is a good conductor of electricity: Copper or Aluminium?" And it was not very unusual to see a blank face when the question was heard. Quite surprisingly a Civil Engineer answered this question and also justified his answer with a technical explanation. And this technical guy was a below average student! And this is the difference when it comes to differentiating a technical guy from a non-technical one.
The first advantage that you get as a technical guy is that you need not bother about joining a company. You can literally create your own company and earn millions of bucks. There are too many Bill Gates' in this world. The only reason why they are not as successful as the other Bill Gates is because they dream of only one thing in their lives: Working under the other Bill Gates. Technical students hate joining a company. If at all they join one they do it because they need experience and capital to start their venture.

The Less Lamp

The Less Lamp is probably one of the only lamps in the world that needs to be broken to actually work. To get the lamp to work, individuals must smash it with a pick-hammer that comes included with the lamp. The pick allows light to shine through the lamp. A person can continue picking at the lamp with the hammer based on the amount of light they need.
The lamp itself is solid and egg shaped and does not work until a person begins to shatter small holes into its surface (which is made of plaster). The Less Lamp is an innovative design concept that must be “broken” to release the light within. Users have control over the amount of light the lamp emits and also have control over the appearance of the lamp because they can poke the holes wherever they wish.

The Less Lamp retails for almost $900 and is made in Spain.

on the first day of Apple's World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco, Monday
(8 / 6). The most awaited wait finally appears the new model iPhone.
The latest model is called the iPhone iPhone 3GS. Presence offering new iPhone
before the iPhone classic, and iPhone 3G. iPhone 3GS has been using
iPhone OS 3.0 also announced at this event.
One additional feature This new operating system is ability to cut, copy, and
can not paste performed on the system version previous operation.

android HTC nexus one

The Google Nexus One is
Google's first own-branded
smartphone, bringing their
particular spin on the Google-
backed Android operating
system. It's a highly
controversial move from Google
that may bring some disquiet
amongst its partners, but on the
other hand it could give the
relatively new Android OS a
major marketplace boost.
The Nexus One is made for
Google by HTC, and if you look
you can see some design cues
from phones like the Touch
Cruise 09 combined with the
trackball most recently seen on
the HTC Hero, although the
hardware specification most
closely matches the HTC HD2. The
overall approach is a sleek,
elegant handset that manages to
avoid the standard black slabby
design that so many rivals have.
The 3.7" 800 x 480 pixel AMOLED
display is one of the highest
resolution Android screens on
the market, beaten slightly by
the Motorola Milestone. The usual
Android control buttons are on
the front of the screen, very
much like those on the Milestone,
but one unusual feature is the
roller ball which isn't really even
necessary for most Android
users. It's a very slim device at
just 11.5mm thick, but the overall
footprint is very similar to the
iPhone and Milestone.

HTC Legend

The HTC Legend is a tablet-style
Android smartphone hape keren, following
up from the HTC Hero with a
number of improvements all
around.
Launched at the same time as the
HTC Desire, the HTC Legend is
more compact and comes with
the same 3.2" 320 x 480 pixel
display that the Hero had.
However, the design has been
reworked to look more elegant
(more of which later) and the old
trackball has been replaced by an
optical one with a clickable
surround.. not that Android really
needs such a thing anyway. On
the back is a 5 megapixel camera
with autofocus, LED flash and
geo-tagging support.
This is an Android 2.1 handset,
and as usual HTC have added
their own feature on top such as
the Sense UI that we have seen
before. Inevitably, it has been
given some new social
networking features called
"Friend Stream" which brings
together updates from friends
on Twitter, Facebook and other
social networking sites all in one
place.
This is a very elegant looking
handset, with a combination of
aluminium and plastic "bumpers"
that make it look absolutely
fabulous. The HTC Legend is
certainly going to attract the
right kind of attention when you
take it out of your pocket to use.
HTC say that the Legend is made
out of a single piece of
aluminium which should add to
the robustness and "wow factor"
when you look at it. It still retains
the distinctive "bump" that other
HTC Android devices have,
although originally that was a
design feature to protect the
trackball which is now optical
rather than mechanical. The black
sections are there for practical
purposes - the WiFi, cellular and
GPS antennae are all hidden
underneath plastic sections
because metal housing would
tend to block the signal.
Inside the HTC Legend is a 600
MHz Qualcomm 7227 processor,
which is pretty much standard
for this type of handset..
although we do wonder how
well it will cope with the
processor demands of Android
2.1. Internal memory is 384MB of
RAM which should be enough for
most users. It's a slim device at
112 x 56 x 12mm, but perhaps a
little on the heavy side at 126
grams. The 1300 mAh battery is
quoted as giving up to 6 hours
talktime on 3G and 23 days
standby time.

samsung wave s8500

The first handset to ship with Samsung's new Bada operating platform is the Samsung Wave S8500, a slim touchscreen smartphone with a large 3.3" Super AMOLED display and a fast
1GHz processor. We've looked at Bada briefly before, and we feel that the world doesn't really need another mobile phone operating system, but then Bada is really just an extension of what
Samsung have already been doing, and the launch of Bada allows third party developers to
add their own applications to make Samsung handsets even more appealing.
The Samsung Wave handset itself is a fairly typical slabby device, although it is very slim
and the brushed metal casing gives the handset an elegant air.
The 3.3" screen is large, although there are smartphones with much bigger displays. Flip the
phone over and there's not much on the back apart from the 5 megapixel camera and flash.
Samsung's AMOLED displays are well-known for being very bright and clear, with the Wave
Samsung have gone further still by eliminating many of the different layers of material normally used with a touchscreen display. It's complicated stuff, but Samsung assure us that the Super AMOLED display used on the Wave will be very impressive indeed. The
panel itself displays 800 x 480 pixels, making it ideal for web surfing or video playback.
Underneath the slim casing, the Wave supports WiFi, 3.5G high- speed data, GPS, HD (720p) video recording, microSD memory, Bluetooth v3 and USB connectivity. There's an FM radio
and 3.5mm audio socket as well, and overall it's hard to see anything missing in terms of
specifications. The large 1500 mAh battery should provide adequate talktime, but Samsung
have not said what it is.
Most of the buzz with this handset is about the software, and this version of Bada comes with the new TouchWiz 3 interface, plus a set of social networking applications, web browser, email client and support for Exchange ActiveSync.

Next Generation in Applet Java Plug-in Technology

It's time to take another look at Java applet technology for delivering your programs over the web. The Next-Generation Java Plug-in Technology runs applets in a different, more efficient and more reliable way than ever before. Now you can reap the following benefits:

* Improved reliability
* Improved user experience
* Applets launch in the background
* Built-in JNLP support
* Per-applet command line arguments
* Heap size, Java 2D API acceleration options
* Improved Java/JavaScript programming language integration
* Improved Windows Vista support
* Signed applets now work correctly in Protected Mode Internet Explorer

The next-generation Java Plug-in offers a completely redesigned architecture, and is available in the Java SE 6 Update 10. This plug-in provides powerful new capabilities to applets in the web browser, while improving the overall reliability and functionality of applets in a backward-compatible manner.

The most significant new feature of the next-generation Java Plug-in is built-in support for launching applets from JNLP files. Using the JNLP file format as the applet descriptor allows applets to instantly reuse JNLP extensions previously written for Java Web Start applications, and significantly expands the capabilities of applets in many other ways.
A New Way of Executing Applets

The new way of executing applets has architectural similarities to Java Web Start technology, but tighter browser integration. Applets no longer execute in a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) inside the web browser. Instead, a separate JVM machine process is launched to execute applets. By default, only one JVM machine is launched, but you have the opportunity to launch more than one JVM machine, and you get support per-applet command-line arguments, so you can affect heap size or other requests.
Applet Architecture
Figure 1. Applet Architecture

In Figure 1 above, the clouds represent JVM instances. There is a small, headless JVM inside the browser that is used to manage the connections to one or more client JVMs that actually run the applets. In the diagram the Dukes represent applets. One JVM instance is running two applets and the other is running one.

Applets launch directly from JNLP files, make use of the same descriptor used by Java Web Start software, and allow more powerful parameters than the classic “archive", “code", and “cache_archive" parameters.

The new plug-in provides:

* access to advanced JNLP extensions previously available only to Java Web Start software applications. A small set was previously available, with restrictions, and these restrictions have now been removed.
* access to the JNLP APIs from applets.
* PersistenceService, DownloadService.
* control over heap size, command-line arguments, JRE version selection, and auto-download. You have the same capabilities as Java Web Start software for applications.

Benefits of Small Printers

A small printer can eventually because of their mobility and comfort Standard or Advanced printing capabilities. This tool is both inkjet and laser technology as the model finally meet the common goal to provide printer for people who travel around a lot. However, both are very different in terms of quality, speed and above all cost. On the other hand, the direct and indirect benefits from the device offered largely the same.

The biggest advantage provided by the printer is mainly due to the small size and weight. Small size and light weight make them easy to transport. Therefore, they can be carried around inside a laptop bag or purse. On the other hand, most of the printing device equipped with wireless connectivity. Therefore, we do not always go through the hassle of carrying around cables. This feature also allows less room for use by the printer and allows any type of personal electronic devices such as Palm Pilots and PDAs connected to a printer. In addition to printers, portable wireless easily shared via the network through a variety of computers. Consequently, we do not refer to other sources such as computer or printer hangs.

On the other hand, one can almost every small printer the same job with a stand-alone printers normal. In some situations, a more compact version of the smaller and even exceed the larger partner. Two tiny ink-jet and laser printers have a decent price DPI and PPM. This means that they produce large quantities of high quality printing in a short time. Some devices are designed specifically to print photos and pictures. This little printer has the ability to image at very high resolution output format printing. Therefore, we can see clearly that does not affect the mobility factor and the quality of certain small printer in any way.

In addition, these devices in a manner that they are designed to make energy efficient. Therefore, they require less power during the printing operation. This appliance is equipped with alternative energy options. Some share the use of rechargeable battery that is activated while the other and operated by the car's cigarette lighter. This is comparable to the charging options in mobile phone service.

Finally, some devices are equipped with scanning, copying and fax numbers and capability. Therefore, it clearly can see that mobility is a major advantage of the device and additional features that make it a profitable investment.
